Who we are
MÖRK is built by one person, with no company and no support team. That means any privacy email is answered by the same person who wrote the code.
The data controller is a registered sole proprietor; full details and the postal address are available on request — write to the support address.
Data you enter yourself
Property names and addresses, meter readings, rates, extra charges, meter photos — everything you enter into MÖRK is stored locally on your device.
We have no server for it to reach — there is technically nowhere to send it, even if we wanted to.
You set the retention period: records stay on the device until you delete them or remove the app. Nothing is deleted automatically after a set time — the history of past years is exactly what makes comparison possible.
Camera, photos, and Face ID
MÖRK asks for three permissions. Here is the exact text of each prompt and what's actually behind it:
- "The camera is used to photograph your meter reading" The photo stays on your device, attached to that one reading. We never upload or view it.
- "Photo access is used to pick an existing photo of your meter" Same idea, just picking a file you already have — not scanning your whole library.
- "Face ID protects access to your meter data and calculations" Recognition happens entirely inside iOS. MÖRK never receives or stores any biometric data — only a yes/no result from the system.
iCloud
Cross-device sync is currently off — everything stays on this one device.
When we turn it on, it will run through a private CloudKit database tied to your own Apple ID: only your device and your iCloud can reach it, not a MÖRK server — because a MÖRK server doesn't exist.
Payments and subscriptions
Purchases in MÖRK are handled entirely by the App Store through StoreKit. We never see or store your card number or any payment details — that's fully on Apple's side.
Analytics and advertising
MÖRK includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDK. We don't know how you use the app or how often you open it.
Export and deletion
The "Export data" button (where available) builds a file locally and opens iOS's standard share sheet — where it goes from there is entirely your call; MÖRK itself never sends it anywhere.
Deleting the app permanently deletes all local data. If iCloud is enabled at the time, its data is removed too.
Your rights
The GDPR gives you the right to access your data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict and object to processing, and to data portability. In MÖRK these rights need no request to us: access means opening the app, correction means editing the record, portability means “Export data”, and erasure means removing the app.
We cannot send you a copy of your data or delete it on request — technically, because we do not have it. The same cuts the other way: there is nothing for us to hand over to a third party either, including a public authority.
Who else receives the data
MÖRK uses no third-party processors. The single exception is Apple, and only for the part Apple performs itself: the App Store handles the purchase, and iCloud stores the backup if you have turned it on. That data is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
Nobody else receives anything: no ad networks, no analytics services, no utility providers, and not your landlord — you send the calculation yourself, through whichever messenger you choose. There is no sale of data, because there is nothing to sell.
We transfer nothing abroad ourselves: the data does not leave your device. If you use iCloud, where the servers sit and any cross-border transfer is determined by Apple under its own terms.
Security
While the device is locked, the app's data is encrypted by iOS itself along with the rest of the device's contents. On top of that, access to MÖRK can be locked behind Face ID.
There is no channel here to intercept — readings are never transmitted. But no system is absolutely secure: if an unlocked device falls into someone else's hands, the data in the app is as reachable as everything else on it.
Children
MÖRK isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from children.
About this website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The hosting provider keeps technical request logs (including the IP address) for security and diagnostics; these logs are never linked to the app.
The legal basis for those logs is the legitimate interest in keeping the site running and protected from attack (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We need no other basis: the app's data never reaches us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will update. We'll announce material changes inside the app itself, not quietly.
